WorldSkills UK is a dynamic, results driven charity that aims to change the conversation in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales about skills and young people. WSUK is a partnership between governments, businesses and education, and we exist to accelerate young people’s development in work and life. We help young people set off in the right direction through innovative and engaging careers advice activities, and access to inspiring guidance from role models they can relate to.

The purpose of this role is to influence, lead, champion and advocate for WSUK in Scotland. Key Outcomes include increased delivery of core programmes, Directions (careers advice), Champion (skills competitions) and Accelerate (though leadership & new products). Also to influence support funding, business and programme delivery through partners at a strategic level within the Scottish Government, tertiary education and skills sector as well as the business community. This role will ensure that WSUK is positively represented to key stakeholders, that its purpose and value is clearly understood, and that WSUK is relevant and responsive to evolving public policy, economic and tertiary education colleges skills sector needs in Scotland, and is funded appropriately to deliver value for money outcomes.
A self starter with entrepreneurial and commercial acumen will be key requirements in the leader for WSUK in Scotland. You will have the gravitas to influence stakeholders, with high levels of tact and diplomacy. Demonstrable current knowledge and understanding of the Tertiary Education sector as well as the policy/political environment within which Colleges and training providers operate is essential. You will possess a strong reputation, standing, experience and connections within key Scottish sectors.
