It has a strong social purpose and focuses on helping people to live independently, designing services with them, regardless of age or disability.

It has a pioneering approach to designing homes and services with the use of technology and has a strong reputation for innovation. Blackwood’s CleverCogs software system provides choice and control for customers, while also aiming to achieve business efficiency. The Blackwood House, as seen recently on STV, integrates highly accessible design with technology, supporting customers to live independently in a beautiful home. Its range of quality services across Scotland delivers value for customers, their families and friends, and public commissioners of services.

Blackwood is looking to recruit new Board members adding to the expertise on the Board to support the future Strategic direction and increase its investment in innovation.

Board members bring expertise to build on the organisation’s successes, overcome challenges, and to secure Blackwood’s ambitious contribution to Scotland beyond 2020. More broadly, Blackwood requires Board members who have good senior executive, or non-executive, experience of delivering business growth through innovation and customer focus. All Board members will also share and promote Blackwood’s key values. 

The specific skills and experience desired from prospective new Board members are:

• Commercial /Entrepreneurial Acumen
• Financial Management/ Treasury Planning
• Digital Development / Redesign
