The Students Association of the University of the West of Scotland (SAUWS) is an unincorporated charity and democratic organisation which is Student led and represents around 13,500 matriculated students at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).  SAUWS plays a central role to delivering a quality Student Experience providing a wide range of services and activities. We work closely with UWS which is one of Scotland’s largest modern Universities with four campuses across the west and south-west of Scotland and a fifth campus which has just opened in London.

SAUWS is embarking on a new and exciting journey following a recent constitutional change which was designed to reinforce organisational governance and includes the recruitment of 4 external trustees. Along with the 4 external Trustees, the membership of the new Trustee Board will be five full-time elected Sabbatical Officers and four student Trustees appointed in the academic year.

The Trustees will bring expertise and stability to the predominately student Board and ensure that the Students’ Association is financially secure, has a strong strategic plan in place and that the Association is complying with its Constitution, Charity Law and relevant legislation.

We welcome applications from professionals with a broad range of expertise and experience including financial, commercial, legal, political, environmental and strategic development. The External Trustees are voluntary positions and do not have to be based in Paisley, or indeed within commuting distance and it would be valuable if there were candidates from across the region to provide that breadth of geographic spread on which UWS prides itself.
