Trustees
The Mungo Foundation is a provider of social care and support for vulnerable people in Glasgow, West Central Scotland and beyond. Their mission is to improve and enrich the lives of the most vulnerable people in these communities through their charitable work. At any one time, they run around 40 different types of project, delivering support to over 1,500 individuals, their families and communities.
Taking an exciting new direction the Mungo Foundation moved away the Archdiocese in June 2020, with whom they have been associated for over 30 years, to become independent – so this is a unique time to become involved in the organisation. We are now looking to recruit further Trustees to expand the skills available.
We are looking to speak with potential Board members from a variety of backgrounds, with equality and diversity of thought being absolutely important. All skill sets and backgrounds will be considered if you have operated within senior management, however we require the following core skills:
- IT
- Communications / marketing
- Stakeholder engagement
- Strategy
We are seeking individuals that are –
- Proven leaders with experience navigating change and transformation
- Have a strong understanding of governance and compliance structures
- Can demonstrable passion for and belief in the work that we do
- Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Has a proven ability to build and maintain strong and productive relationships
- Is committed to equality, diversity and inclusivity at all levels
While we recognise that the role of trustee is rewarding for both the trustee and the charity, we appreciate the many barriers that exist for people in gaining opportunity and access to strategic leadership roles. As such, during this process we are also seeking to reach individuals from across the communities in which we operate and have committed to support a development role on our board for someone who would like the opportunity to influence and inform the direction of the organisation through the sharing and use of their own experiences while being supported to learn more about Governance leadership, develop knowledge of Board working and gain skills in strategic thinking and decision making. No prior leadership or senior management experience is needed for this development role but rather we look to attract candidates who have a passion for citizen leadership and community involvement. In line with our commitment to Personalisation of services we especially welcome notes of interest or applications from individuals with lived experience or direct involvement in the social care system.
The board is responsible for the strategic direction, accountability of the organisation, as well as risk management, quality and performance monitoring. Trustees are expected to challenge and contribute to the development of the organisation and ensure financial controls and governance systems are robust, transparent and compliant with regulation.
There are 6 board meetings per year and trustees will be expected to participate in sub-committees.
