As an organisation we are at the forefront of change within the NHS and wider public sector. We provide a range of specialist and shared services to NHSScotland including procurement and distribution, analytics, IT provision, payment services, public health and blood products. Within the procurement area we are the largest procurement centre of expertise in Scotland. The successful candidate will lead, manage and develop the delivery of the strategic sourcing service to NHSScotland Boards (NHSS), ensuring the successful delivery of policy and objectives as well as growing our influence and providing creative market-based solutions to all our customers within Health and Social Care environment of Scotland.

The post holder will manage a team of around 70 highly motivated and skilled procurement professionals. You will also help to shape and develop national policy, provide strong leadership and effective advice on a broad range of commercial, contractual and procurement issues. You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for sourcing activity across NHS Scotland, working closely with Scottish Government, other, UK NHS bodies, wider Health and Public Sector organizations, and strategic supply partners

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing all strategic sourcing activity in order to deliver the wider strategic objectives of the organisation, providing 3rd party solutions to support the delivery of Health across NHSScotland in both acute and community settings and to realise cash and non cash benefits for reinvestment in patient care. You will be the primary point of contact for all stakeholders in the provision of expert advice, solution development and strategic delivery of a contract portfolio with a value of £1.5bn per annum and an ambitious growth agenda

You will be educated to Degree level in a relevant related discipline and hold a post-graduate qualification or equivalent. You will also hold chartered membership in a relevant discipline. The successful candidate will have extensive post-graduate experience with highly developed specialist knowledge and proven leadership ability at a senior management level of technical procurement and management issues relating to procurement and sourcing activity. A strong understanding of public procurement legislation will be essential, as will the ability to lead the organsiation into its next phase of success.
