Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh is committed to providing thoroughly relevant teaching and research. We have widely recognised expertise in the areas of health and rehabilitation; sustainable business and creativity and culture. Programmes in Media, Film and Public Relations have been delivered at Queen Margaret University since 1981, and programmes in Performing Arts since 1971. All programmes in the Division aim to provide students with the breadth of knowledge, skill and understanding to pursue relevant careers and vocations in the rapidly changing world of the 21st century.

As a Professor you will lead the Research Centre for Communication, Culture and Media Studies’ next research assessment exercise submission, and will consolidate and enhance the Division’s reputation in Communication, Cultural and Media Studies. You will have responsibility for the development of the Research Centre by establishing internal and external research projects and teams. Your research will attract PhD students. You will contribute to at least one of the MCPA postgraduate programmes in Arts and Cultural Management, Public Relations, and Culture and Creative Enterprise. You will undertake performance management reviews in line with institutional policy and procedures as part of the strategic planning process in relation to research, knowledge exchange, and teaching and learning. In advising the Dean of School and Head of Division on research and knowledge exchange you will contribute to and influence the development of the School’s operational plan, providing academic leadership for the achievement of targets within the strategic planning process.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to PhD level with significant research experience and developed research plans. You will be able to demonstrate evidence of a national and international reputation for research, including a significant publication profile in the field of Media, Culture and Communication. You will also have experience in PhD supervision and postgraduate and undergraduate teaching in the field of Media, Culture and Communication alongside a strong track record in developing research proposals and securing grant funding, and in managing and administering funded research projects.
