We are currently working with Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company (SBMC), a division of Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI), to recruit an Operations Manager, who will lead and manage an exciting new social enterprise in Scotland supporting veterans and those with disabilities and the long-term unemployed.

The purpose of the role is to effectively lead and manage the manufacturing operations within the Erskine factory. The initial activities involved in the role will be the establishment of factory processes including identifying required equipment and planning the layout of the factory taking into account efficiency and safety as well as optimisation of output, whilst remaining within the agreed budget. The role will also require working in conjunction with the HR team to recruit operative and supervisory staff.

The key responsibilities of the role include working directly with line managers and operational delivery teams to ensure staff are trained to a high standard in order to work at their peak performance and deliver social value by providing fulfilling and enriching work experience to staff. Also integral to the role is customer service, with customers at the centre of the planning and delivery of the operation therefore, liaison with the sales and general management teams will be required in order to achieve client expectations for company products. The role will also require supporting the Director of SBMC to ensure profit, people and productivity performance targets are met and ultimately act as an ambassador for SBMC both internally and externally.

To be considered for this role, you will have 3 years minimum experience at senior operations or general management level within a manufacturing production environment as well as profit and loss accountability. Strong leadership and planning skills are essential as well as strong problem solving capabilities. As an ambassador for SBMC, you will have strong communication and presentation skills as well as a dynamic leadership style and team building skills. Knowledge and understanding of the charity sector is desirable.
