NCAP – Operations Manager
£34,303 – £39,873
Edinburgh (Some flexibility for home working)
The National Collection of Aerial Photography (NCAP) is one of the largest collections of aerial imagery in the world. The majority of images in the collection were taken during reconnaissance missions throughout the Second World War and Cold War. These images were created throughout the world and are sold to individual customers and specialist clients, notably those in the bomb-disposal sector.
The majority of the 30 million images were declassified between 2004 and 2009 by the MOD and are preserved to archival standards by the NCAP team. More top-secret images will be made available as they reach their specified declassification dates providing more images for the NCAP team to process, digitise and supply to customers.
The NCAP team are now looking for an Operations Manager who can oversee the day-to-day running of a new purpose-built production facility in Edinburgh, to take ownership of the customer journey and to continue to implement improvements. The post holder will manage the team and production flowlines that make imagery accessible online, and will look after day-to-day security and H&S.
The ideal candidate will have a track record in managing people and leading the provision of excellent customer services. Experience of production-flowlines is essential and the appointed candidate will have an appreciation for history and be able to communicate with various stakeholders and customers on the subject.
