NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) is a public sector organisation that has been providing services to NHSScotland for over 30 years.  It works at the heart of the health service, providing strategic support services and expert advice crucial to the delivery of effective healthcare to patients and the public.  It also offers its expertise and national scale shared services more widely across the public sector in support of public service reform and, in particular, the integration of health and social care.  In supporting Scotland’s health, NSS works closely with all its partner organisations, especially the NHS Boards, Integration Joint Boards and other public bodies, in the delivery of its services.  NHS NSS employ around 3,400 dedicated and highly specialised staff based in a number of locations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee and Livingston.  It has an annual budget of approximately £390m.

NHS NSS is looking for two new members to join its Board with previous senior executive or non-executive experience; or experience of delivering organisational objectives in a complex financial environment.  As a non-executive member of the Board, you will be expected to support the delivery of better health and better care through the provision of a wide range of national and shared services.

The roles are as challenging as they are rewarding – and you will be offered training to support you in this role. The role takes up on average 8 hours a week – in exchange for £8,088 (non-pensionable) a year plus reasonable travel and subsistence costs, dependant-carer expenses and support required to help you carry out your duties effectively.  Appointments will be for up to 4 years, with the possibility of re-appointment subject to evidence of effective performance and to satisfying the requirements of the person specification for the role at the time of re-appointment.
