Historic Environment Scotland are the lead body for Scotland’s historic environment; a charity dedicated to the advancement of heritage, culture, education and environmental protection. They are at the forefront of researching and understanding the historic environment, and addressing the impact of climate change on its future. They investigate and record architectural and archaeological sites and landscapes across Scotland and care for more than 300 properties of national importance. We are working with HES to recruit a Head of Finance, who will be directly responsible to the Director of Finance. You will have a key strategic role, working closely with senior managers providing value to Historic Environment Scotland through the provision of sound financial governance, financial accounting services and financial transactions services. You will provide leadership, management and direction within the Finance Unit, with line management responsibilities for 29 staff, and will take a proactive role in supporting the effective performance of the Financial Operations Team.

Highly motivated with excellent technical and people skills, you will have significant experience at a senior level. Change management experience and the ability to achieve targets is also critical
