£83,463 – £109,127

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
We are the leader in educational design, delivery and quality assurance and provide wide-ranging support to workforce development. We are the official provider of workforce statistics for NHS Scotland and support national workforce planning. We design and develop digital technologies supporting innovation and transformation.
Our purpose is to drive change and improve the quality of care experienced by citizens across Scotland by ensuring that we have the right staff, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time. NES is integral to improving outcomes for people and in ensuring a skilled and capable workforce underpins the design and delivery of services. As an organisation, we recognise the significant contribution we can make to improving population health, reducing inequalities and economic development.
Building on the highly successful work already undertaken within the NES Nursing Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Directorate, this is an exciting opportunity to develop education, training, workforce development, digital tools and literacy and workforce planning that will inform and influence the capability, capacity and shape of the social care workforce for the future. Most importantly, the role will develop the workforce to co-create and deliver good outcomes for people who experience care based on their rights, choices and strengths.
Establishing this Directorate in NES will strengthen and enhance the role of practice education across social care to provide educational events; learning; leadership and management across social care. The Social Care Directorate will provide the organisation, Scottish Government and other key partners with social care leadership and strategic insight and advice.
SSSC registered, you will have a high level of knowledge and experience of the social care or social work sector. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to influence, negotiate, and have the credibility and stature to lead a national agenda and a strategically significant Directorate that impacts front line service delivery.
Extensive leadership experience in social work, integrated health and social care will be essential for this role as well as an in-depth understanding of the context for integrated health and social care, working with the sector to develop education, training and workforce development.
