Bield is a not for profit organisation and is currently one of Scotland’s largest housing and support service providers. Bield’s focus is to provide housing for older people, creating living situations which allow tenants to retain their independence and live fulfilling lives. The promise of “Free to be” aligns the organisation’s vision that older people should have the freedom to make their own choices and be free to live as independently as possible.

Established in 1971, Bield now provides over 5,400 affordable rent properties and a range of services across Scotland and has a large, diverse customer base. Operating as a Registered Social Landlord and Scottish Charity, the organisation has adopted a new strategic direction which has inevitably brought about significant change to secure the long term future of Bield. The most challenging of which was the difficult decision to move away from the care home sector. They recognise that they are on a journey and, in order to continue helping improve the lives of older people, they need to look ahead, anticipate change and adapt.

Recently the organisation has recruited a new Chief Executive, who will lead Bield into the future with an exciting strategy. The organisation is currently working through a change programme and requires a new Director of Finance & Resources to join the SMT.

You now have the opportunity to join Bield working as part of the SMT to provide leadership and strategic insight into the Bield transformation programme. The role also holds responsibility for Finance, ICT and HR, and the continuous development of each function, whilst engaging with staff across the organisation to deliver cultural change.

The appointed candidate will hold a degree and membership of a professional accountancy body, and possess experience of leading and developing functions and people. Financial planning and senior financial management experience in an organisation of relevant size and complexity will be essential to take on this role.
