International Network of Street Papers
CEO

Glasgow

Circa £45,000

The International Network of Street Papers (INSP) is a charity and social enterprise that works to alleviate poverty and build a social movement for change. This is achieved through a network of 100 ‘street paper’ social enterprises in 35 countries (including The Big Issue magazine in the UK). These help to promote independent media and quality journalism to provide a source of income and support to people experiencing poverty. INSP’s network empowers more than 20,500 vendors, with its editorial content reaching over 4.6 million readers.

Today, INSP are looking for a new Chief Executive to help guide the organisation forward. In particular, the new CEO will help provide purposeful, regional growth for INSP. They will also help maintain and foster funding relationships with the Scottish Government and local councils whilst remaining rooted in the social enterprise sector. The CEO will be the visible face across the 35 countries in which INSP have members, attending the bi-annual summit and travelling to support where necessary.

The right candidate will be a strategic thinker with a leadership background who can be accountable for and strive to grow INSP’s mission. The new CEO will have a good understanding of fundraising and how to work and maintain relationships with funders. Communication skills are imperative: the candidate will be a confident speaker who can connect with the variety of languages and people across the network. An understanding of how the charity sector works and ability to take a lead on issues such as finance will be within the remit of the CEO. Flexibility to the organisation and the team are key. Additionally, they will be able to cope under pressure, be a self-starter and have a strategic level of thoroughness in terms of INSP’s logistics. While we are keen to speak to individuals from a similar level, we would also encourage applications from individuals looking to step up into the role.

If you think this role could be for you and you would be the right candidate to help push INSP forward, please get in touch with Debbie Shields or Kate Kennedy on 0141 212 7555.
