Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) helps provide access and connectivity for over a third of Scotland’s land mass.

This challenging and exciting role offers a great opportunity for an experienced leader with excellent people management skills. With several years experience in a leadership role you’ll lead and motivate a team of dedicated operational staff working across a range of airport roles.

This is a broad role requiring experience in finance and budget management, change management, procurement and project management.  You’ll also need the ability to achieve commercial and strategic objectives in all areas of service delivery.

You’ll ideally have a sound working knowledge of airport infrastructure, operational aviation legislation and demonstrable experience of regulatory compliance. Strong communication skills are essential as you will interface with a variety of stakeholders, including regulators and will represent the airports in a number of forums.

This is a particularly exciting time to join HIAL as Kirkwall airport, and its connectivity to the Orkney Islands Council airfields, has created a developing interest from the next generation of aircraft manufacturers who are looking for harsh weather testing sites for their developing prototypes.  This role will be responsible for working with stakeholders and potential customers to develop “the Orkney Centre for Excellence” for small aircraft testing.  The Centre of Excellence will ultimately be a zero carbon airport and be able to accommodate all types of aviation technology.  Your role will be to understand customer needs, commercially develop, and ultimately deliver the required infrastructure solution to meet these needs.

In return HIAL offer a great benefits package, including a good salary, generous annual leave entitlement, an excellent company pension (employer contribution rate of 27.4%) and an employee assistance programme which both you and your family can use.

You’ll be joining a great team, who do truly worthwhile work – could you be the next addition?
