Welcome
Thank you for your interest in joining the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA). As we embark on an exciting chapter in our organisation’s history, I am delighted to invite applications for the role of Director of External Affairs.
SFHA is a dynamic and highly respected membership organisation, dedicated to representing, supporting, and connecting our members. Together, our members provide safe, warm and affordable rented homes for more than half a million people—from Shetland to the Scottish Borders. They are at the heart of everything we do, and we take great pride in offering outstanding support, advocacy and services that help them thrive.
Over the years, we have continued to evolve to meet the needs of a changing sector. Today, we stand as a forward-thinking organisation with a clear vision for the future. We have a passionate and skilled team, a committed Board of Directors and a vibrant membership base that deeply values our work. Our financial position is strong, and our strategic direction is ambitious. As we head into the third year of our three-year strategy—One Voice: Bringing Scotland’s Housing Associations Together—we are building collective strength, increasing our influence and driving innovation across the housing landscape.
Having just celebrated our 50th Anniversary we are in a period of renewal which offers us the chance to further amplify our impact, shape national conversations and seize new opportunities for growth.
We are now searching for an inspiring, strategic leader to join us, someone who shares our values and can harness the strengths of our organisation while bringing fresh ideas and perspectives. As Director of External Affairs, you will be a skilled communicator, a passionate advocate for our members and a confident ambassador for our cause. You will lead a talented team, work closely with an engaged Board and Senior Leadership Team, and ensure that SFHA continues to be a powerful and trusted voice for housing associations across Scotland.
If you are energised by the opportunity to help shape the future of our organisation and make a meaningful difference to communities across the country, we would love to hear from you. This is a rare and rewarding leadership role at a time of celebration, ambition and transformation.
I look forward to welcoming the next member of our leadership team.
Kind regards,
Richard Meade
