About

Who We Are

Seescape is the operational name of Fife Society for the Blind. Since 1865, we have supported individuals with visual impairments throughout Fife. Our mission is to empower those living with visual impairments to live safely, maintain their independence, and achieve their personal aspirations. Every year, Seescape supports thousands of people living with visual impairment across Fife, helping them stay independent and connected.

Our Services

We offer a comprehensive range of services to meet the needs of our clients. These include:

Sight Support – We provide tailored rehabilitation programmes to help people adjust to sight loss and maintain independence. This includes practical daily living skills such as cooking, mobility, and household tasks, as well as advice on magnification tools and lighting solutions. Emotional support is a key part of our service, offering reassurance and confidence-building for individuals and their families.

Accessible Technology – Our team delivers hands-on training and guidance on assistive devices and software – from screen readers and magnifiers to smartphones and smart home technology. We help clients harness digital tools to stay connected, manage tasks, and access information, ensuring technology works for them, not against them. We’re leading the way in accessible technology, ensuring our clients can thrive in a digital world.

Community Engagement – We run social groups, befriending schemes, and wellbeing activities designed to reduce isolation and foster friendships. Whether it’s coffee mornings, hobby clubs, or peer support sessions, we create safe, welcoming spaces where people can share experiences, build confidence and reduce social isolation.

Health & Wellbeing – In addition to group walks and gentle exercise sessions that promote physical and mental health, Seescape offers personalised one-to-one training to support clients in reaching their individual health and wellbeing goals. Through tailored guidance and accessible activities, we help each person build confidence and benefit from being part of a vibrant, caring community.

Training Services – Our training is informed by lived experience and professional expertise. We equip clients with practical skills and knowledge to thrive in everyday life – from navigating public transport to using digital banking securely. This empowers people to take control and live life on their terms.

Our Vision

Since our founding in 1865, people have been at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to helping and caring for our clients by forming close partnerships with them, their families, and their communities, and by responding quickly and positively to their changing needs.
