Hutchesons’ is a school with a strong sense of community which focuses on ensuring that our pupils feel they belong, can flourish, and will achieve wherever their talents lie. We are rightly proud that, as a leading co-educational day school, we are consistently one of the leading academic schools in Scotland.

Hutchesons’ is at a uniquely exciting point in its history. We were established in 1641, and as such we are at the beginning of the build up to celebrating our 400th year which will be a momentous milestone in the school’s history. The Board of Governors is seeking to appoint a number of new Governors as part of its natural cycle of renewal. The role of Governor is both a privilege and a responsibility. Our Governors play a vital part in safeguarding the School’s values, supporting its strategic direction and ensuring that it continues to flourish for future generations. Working closely with the Rector and Senior Leadership Team, the Board provides constructive challenge, informed oversight and long-term stewardship of an institution that is deeply valued by its pupils, parents, staff and alumni.

We are seeking individuals who share our commitment to education and who can bring a diversity of experience, perspectives and expertise to the Board. Whether your background is in education, finance, law, business, technology, property, marketing, philanthropy or another field, your insight and judgement can help shape the future of the School.

The Governors and our Executive Leadership Team are looking forward to working closely and collaboratively as we seek to provide strategic direction and governance oversight of the school.
