About Us
Are you ready to shape the future of independent living for Scotland’s Older People?
For over 50 years Bield has been at the forefront of developing housing and services that empower Scotland’s older people to live life on their terms.
Recognised as a systemically important organisation by the Scottish Housing Regulator, we are an organisation driven by our core values, operating robust governance, a strategic focus that supports us to deliver excellence for our tenants, customers and communities. Recent accolades, such as the TIS Housing Association of the Year award and the CIH Equality in Housing Award, underscore our impact and leadership in the sector.
We are one of Scotland’s largest providers of housing and support services for older people. We currently manage over 4,600 houses, ensuring that they are maintained to a high standard and effectively monitor building compliance. Within these homes we provide landlord and tenancy sustainment services to over 6,000 tenants across 21 local authority areas in Scotland.
Our care and support services operate across 5 local authority areas, providing over 3,500 care hours per week to customers, in their own homes, who are on a supported journey. We collaborate closely with local authority Commissioning Officers and the Care Inspectorate to ensure continual improvement and that we provide high quality care and support services to those we work with.
Bield operate one of the largest Alarm Receiving Centres in Scotland, BR24(Bield Response 24), which operates 24 hours per day/365 days per year, supporting tenants and organisations with planned and emergency situations. BR24 not only provide alarm monitoring for all Bield’s tenants but support 52 external partnerships monitoring over 20,000 adults across Scotland who are in receipt of support via telecare/alarm services.
Bield’s customers, and services, are supported by a valued team of 670 permanent employees and 155 casual workers, helping us to deliver on the strategic ambition of Bield.
We have close relationships with other housing associations and local authorities and work collaboratively with our sector to strengthen our position, influence national agendas, share best practice or to achieve cost savings and better customer services.
Our commitment is to provide homes, support and care that evolve with the changing needs of our tenants, creating vibrant, inclusive communities where independence and choice are the foundation.
Our ambition is to offer a diverse range of housing, care, and other service options tailored to the needs of our tenants, which thanks to the experience, dedication and passion of our staff and volunteers we are uniquely placed to bring to Life.
Our vision is to create places where people of all ages are respected, empowered to make their own choices, and can lead independent, fulfilling lives. This vision is supported by a culture of collaboration, respect, and forward-thinking leadership that puts tenants and customers at the heart of everything we do.
