Thank you for your interest in the post of Director of Finance at the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). This is a critical appointment, to provide meaningful financial and strategic leadership to the organisation.

SQA is the national awarding and accreditation body and is at the heart of the education and skills community in Scotland. SQA helps learners across Scotland and beyond realise their potential and achieve their ambitions. Our work benefits the economy, wider society, and the nation as a whole by providing a wide range of high quality, internationally recognised qualifications and associated services.

SQA is going through a period of transition and transformation following the Scottish Government’s announcement that SQA will be replaced by Qualifications Scotland in 2025. Qualifications Scotland will take on SQA’s current awarding functions, commercial activities and international work.

It is expected that the newly appointed Director of Finance will play a key role as part of the leadership and strategic direction of this transition and transformation to Qualifications Scotland, as well as its overall success in delivering a best-in-class awarding and accreditation body for the people of Scotland.

I’m looking for someone with the strategic vision, leadership and influencing skills necessary to guide both a Finance Directorate, as well as SQA’s Executive Management team, through this significant change with confidence.
