Disability Equality Scotland

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the Board of Disability Equality Scotland.  Our mission is to give all disabled people in Scotland a voice with trust, care and empathy.

We will use what we hear to advocate for and enable change to improve lives. We are working towards an inclusive and accessible Scotland for all disabled people.

This is an incredibly exciting stage of Disability Equality Scotland’s development as we recently launched our 5-year strategic plan – focussing on 5 key pillars:

  • Strengthening

  • Developing

  • Growing

  • Valuing

  • Leading

These are all aspects that this national charity has been involved in since its inception 21 years ago.  We have been actively involved in the support of, and creation of new, Access Panels in Scotland – a Network that is only available in Scotland.  By working alongside our Access panels, and our membership (reaching approximately 10,000 disabled people), we have continued to make a difference to the lives of many across Scotland.

At a time when funding is a challenging landscape and costs keep increasing, I am pleased to be part of the growth and development of Disability Equality Scotland.  I hope that you will be too.

Our current Board is wide and varied and we are looking for three more Directors to join us with a deep commitment to supporting all disabled people to live their independent life.  We want people who are values-led, can provide strategic support to our vision, and wish to be actively involved.

If you believe you fit this profile, we would like to meet and talk to you.

Best wishes
