Glasgow Life - Vice Chair

The Role

The Glasgow Life Board is preparing to recruit for a new Vice-Chair of the Board.  Our Board is made up of independent trustees and elected members of Glasgow City Council.

The Board’s key responsibilities relate to strategic direction and developing an exciting new chapter for Glasgow Life in the coming years.  This includes advocacy and influencing and ensuring that Glasgow Life complies with its governance arrangements, charity law and other relevant regulations.

Being a member of the Glasgow Life Board is an opportunity to help to shape one of Scotland’s most dynamic and ambitious sporting and cultural organisations.

Key responsibilities

As a Trustee, you will work with the Chief Executive, the Chair and the Board to provide strategic leadership and direction, influencing and advocating on behalf of the charity.  You will help shape the Charity’s long-term vision and priorities, ensure strong financial stewardship and support the delivery of its charitable objectives. Trustees also act as ambassadors for Glasgow Life, building relationships with key partners and stakeholders while championing the organisation’s values, equality, diversity and inclusion, and its contribution to Glasgow and beyond.

Person specification

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and communicative leader, capable of winning trust, who will offer maximum benefit to Glasgow Life through their reputation, visibility, and networks.

Glasgow Life is interested in hearing from people from all backgrounds and with various levels of experience to ensure that the Board is enriched through diversity. Glasgow Life welcomes interest from people who bring characteristics or come from backgrounds that are underrepresented at Board level.

Terms of appointment

Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term. The role is voluntary and unremunerated.

The Board meets four times a year, with meetings held in person in Glasgow. Scheduled meetings for the remainder of 2026 are:
