Hutchesons' Grammar School - Governor

The Role

• Provide strategic oversight and governance for Hutchesons’ Grammar School, helping to shape its long-term direction and success.
• Ensure the school operates in accordance with its charitable purpose, governing documents and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to Board decision-making by reviewing information, offering constructive challenge and exercising sound judgement.
• Support effective financial stewardship, risk management and organisational performance.
• Uphold the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality and good governance.
• Work collaboratively with fellow Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team in the best interests of current and future pupils.

What we’re looking for:

• Strategic thinkers with strong communication and analytical skills.
• Individuals committed to education, public service and good governance.
• Experience in areas such as finance, law, HR, technology, cybersecurity, business or senior leadership is particularly welcome, though previous board experience is not essential.

Commitment:

• Five Board meetings and one Strategy Day each year.
• Membership of at least one committee, meeting approximately four times annually.
• Remote participation is fully supported.
